Just Window…. FACTS..!! I have 24 years of replacement window sales, all of which were triple glass. I am personally responsible for more then 64,000 replacement window sells. Double Hung, Casement Windows, Awning Windows, Picture Windows, Bay & Bow Windows, Garden Windows all Triple Glass, Low-E Argon or Krypton gas filled since 1986 Facts ...that mean nothing: Beware of Energy Star Partner of the Year, it means absolutely nothing, the manufacturer pays to able to say those words. Selling Gimmick Double strength safety glass is a selling gimmick, a salesmen will come to your home, he will be sincere, polite, curious and give you a window demo that is fabulous while finishing it up by lying the window down and standing on the glass. IMPRESSIVE, ...you just have to have it..!! During the demo the sales person very subtly instills fear by discussing recent B & E's or shows you newspaper articles of home break-ins where the thief broke the glass on a first floor window. DO NOT BUY IT....IT'S ALL B.S. Selling Gimmick When buying energy efficient replacement windows, ...ONLY BUY THE FACTS. Next July the Department of Energy and the EPA will be changing the Energy Star rules. As of now approximately 82% of the windows sold today will no longer qualify for the New Energy Star Label requirements.
The market this year for windows in new construction will increase 17.5% to 13.4 million units, while demand in the remodeling market w ith replacement windows will increase 8% to 29.7 million units, predicts Ducker Research Co. of Troy, Michigan.
As for the year just passed, “The drastically declining new construction market coupled with the drop in remodeling expenditures continues to take a significant toll on nearly all the segments and regions of the residential window market,” AAMA said in a statement. “In total, the new residential window market declined by another 20%. New construction applications declined by 37% from 2008 to 2009 [reaching 11.4 million units], while remodeling and replacement window applications dropped by 9% [to 27.5 million units].”
The AAMA/WDMA report forecast the housing market’s recovery will help window shipments stop a slide that began in 2006, while demand in the replacement window market “is also expected to pick up slightly but is moderated by the still-weak consumer credit market.” For both segments together, demand will rise to 43 million units this year, 52.8 million in 2011, 62.9 million in 2012 and 68.1% million in 2013.
The report also indicates a shift in the market share held by various window types. Most notably, wood windows’ share of the new construction market has shrunk from 30.3% in 2004 to an expected 21.6% in 2010, the AAMA/WDMA report says, while vinyl windows’ share increased from 48.4% in 2004 to 56.7% this year. A similar change has taken place in the remodeling replacement window market: woods’ share has shrunk from 28.9% in 2004 to an expected 21.5% this year, while vinyl’s has widened from 62.2% to 70% We are all about energy savings and nothing else..!! There is a reason, …they don’t save the amount of energy R-5 windows do, besides double glass windows add very little to the longevity of your heating and air conditioning systems plus provides very little sound protection. Make your home a Net Zero Energy Home TODAY We also highly recommend when looking for: A ROOF ...purchase a Cool Roof. (yes they are expensive, but are worth it) An Entry Door ... purchase doors that have an R rating of R-6 or higher and have less then 25% glass. Ventilation ...this is a must. With homes becoming more energy efficient we tend to also make them tighter thus capturing stale air in your homes. Fresh Air Intake Systems are available and should be researched. Newer homes built by energy conscience builder will have these systems.
